Overnight Success for World for Warcraft
Blizzard Entertainment today announced that World of Warcraft has become an overnight success in Europe, achieving record-breaking sales in its first 24 hours since the game launched on Friday, 11th February. World of Warcraft has sold-through an estimated 280,000* copies at retail on day-one, selling more units in one day than what was previously thought to be the overall cumulative size of the European MMORPG market. This figure rose to more than 380,000 units being sold-through by the end of the first weekend. You can read the rest of the Media Alert here.

Payment service partnership announced
GlobalCollect, the leading payment service provider, today announced it has been selected by Blizzard Entertainment to process the online payments for World of Warcraft® in all European countries. Read more about the announcement here.

European street date announced
Blizzard Entertainment today announced that World of Warcraft® will officially release in Europe on Friday, 11th February, 2005. The game will be available for Windows® 98/ME/2000/XP and Macintosh® in English, French and German. There will be a standard edition, containing the game on four CD-ROM disks, and a collector’s edition with a plethora of included World of Warcraft memorabilia. Both versions will be fully localised into English, French and German, and will also be available with a Spanish or Italian box and manual.

Second data centre for World of Warcraft in Europe
Blizzard Entertainment today announced that on the 29th of January, 2005, it opened a second data centre to expand its hosting capabilities in Europe for World of Warcraft, its forthcoming massively multiplayer on-line role-playing game (mmorpg). Read more about the announcement here.
